The Napoleon Connection, the first adventure-mystery in The Jewel Trilogy--three spicy, hip novels packed with loads of fun--is set in the famed French Quarter of present-day New Orleans. Hired by one of that city's more prominent denizens, young and accomplished art historian Michael Bennington must discover the whereabouts of a priceless artifact--believed to be a rare jewel--curiously missing from the city's famed Cabildo historical museum. Bennington dives into the assignment with an uncanny passion--his specialty is 19th century jewels--and ends up taking a virtual roller coaster ride through the city's fascinating historical past, uncovers both real and purported--if not positively bizarre--local legends, descends into the city's sexually-alternative underground and even encounters a quasi-religious, homoerotic Roman Catholic cult.

Disappointing - "ESL" -
Not having read this author before, I can't compare this work with previously written books. However, I am not impressed with his writing - there seems to be a lot of unnecessary and unbelievable dialogue between the main character, his at-home companion, and various others he meets along the way. I don't know if the grammatical and spelling errors in the book are also in the original published book, or just a result of conversion to Kindle technology - for instance, in the first part of the book Gaudreaux's name is spelled one way, and about a third of the way through it's spelled Geaudreaux several times - then back to the original.
